Beckham for Burberry

18 Dec

The Beckhams can add another modeling cred to their clan — little Romeo Beckham is officially the new face of the Burberry Kids line. The super photogenic 10-year old sports the infamous Burberry trench and umbrella, lighting up the camera with his million-dollar smile (and presumably, a million-dollar plus pay cheque). But surely it wasn’t difficult for the tot to strike a pose, with Posh and Becks for parents.

The Romeo-Burberry pairing was a match made in British designer heaven. What better recruit could the iconic beige and plaid brand find to represent their kids ready-to-wear line, other than a member of one of Britain’s most unofficially royal families?

But honestly speaking, little Romeo (/mini Becks) looks absolutely ADORBS in the ad, and I’m sure it won’t be his last.

Just Another Manicure Monday

24 Sep

First off – apologies again for my inconsistent posting. I think I’ve finally settled into LA enough that I will be able to give my blog the attention it deserves!

Now…on to my manicure! I decided to cave in and get my second gel manicure ever, even though I wasn’t a big fan of them. And I have to say…I’ve been converted! I have on a lavender glitter gradient manicure, using clear gel polish as a base. I love how precise it is, how sparkly it is, and mostly, how creative it is — a lot of people have commented on how unique it looks. To recreate the look, ask your manicurist to use Bio Gel, which is apparently natural and better for your nails than other gel polishes. And for those of you who aren’t fans of gel manicures, I’m sure the look can be recreated easily with some regular glittery polishes, like OPI Save Me. Enjoy!

Mani Pedi Update!

24 Aug

Happy Friday to all from a very uncharacteristically cloudy LA! Apologies for being so inconsistent with posts — I’m trying to very quickly become acclimated with my new LA life! I promise I’ll get better. Amidst my 101-entry-long-to-do list, I was able to squeeze in about thirty minutes to experiment with some nail art. Although I’m a loyal Essie fan, I decided to try some new polishes, courtesy of Maybelline Color Show. The colours I found in Rite Aid were so eye-catching, and I was impressed with the packaging as well. Simple yet sleek cylindrical design with cute names to match. I used “Shocking Seas” (a muted teal-like colour), along with “Pinkalicious” (a neon, bubblegum colour), for a little added pop and creativity. Being oh-so-crafty, I implemented the use of scotch tape (very fancy), to do the ring finger diagonal design. Even though the angles aren’t perfect, I’m still happy with the result. Only thing I found difficult with the scotch tape method is figuring out when to remove the tape (which is why the lines are a little less than perfect). As always, I started with my Essie bottom and top coats: First Base and Good to Go. Hope you all enjoy the mani and your weekends!

FULL SPEED-O AHEAD: world’s fastest swimmer michael phelps for LV

14 Aug

First of all, a HUGE congratulations is in order for ALL the amazing Olympic athletes, who made it to this worldwide platform to display their athletic abilities…and a special congratulations to the US, for taking first place in the medal race for these 2012 London Games! And last but certainly not least, congratulations to the incredible Michael Phelps for becoming the most decorated Olympian of all time, with a record 22 medals, 18 of which are gold. What an achievement!

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Phelps’ super stardom has propelled him to the next level of brand endorsements…so goodbye cheesy Subway commercial, hello Mr. Louis Vuitton! In the new print ad campaign, one image features Phelps with Larissa Latynina — the former Soviet gymnast who held Phelps’ new Olympic status, before these 2012 games. Phelps looks rather dapper wearing a full, fitted suit with a classic monogram LV tote by his feet. Nice.

The image that ruffles my feathers just a touch, is the second of the two. Phelps is pictured in a bathtub, stripped down, wearing what else? A Speedo. Oh yeah, and there’s an LV tote beside the bathtub…but I’m pretty sure nobody noticed that. I’m really unsure as to what about this image disturbs me…is it the bathtub? His creeper stare? That Speedo? Not sure how I feel about it. Either way…it’s certainly headline worthy, so well done to Louis Vuitton for choosing such a well-recognized and super talented celebrity for their new campaign!

BIG BICOASTAL NEWS!

12 Aug

I have some BIG NEWS to share with you all this evening! Cosmopolitangypsy.com is going BICOASTAL! Yes, you’ve read correctly — this blog will primarily be focused on two of the greatest cities in the US (and the world, arguably): New York and Los Angeles! I am so excited to immerse myself in this amazing city that is the City of Angels, discover all it has to offer, and of course, write about it. I’ve already sampled some of the finest Japanese fare in Katsu-ya restaurant, but that will be in a near future post. I hope you are all as thrilled as I am to explore the West Coast…but don’t worry…I will be sure to continue to spend ample time in the Big Apple; let’s be honest…I’m sure I won’t be able to stay away from it for too long!

BALL GAME CHIC: outfit of the day

6 Aug

Happy Monday, everyone — hoping that no one is suffering from the Monday blues! I had another great weekend, watching another great baseball game in what’s meant to arguably be one of the best ball parks in the country: Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies won against the Arizona Diamondbacks, but both teams put up a good fight! But more importantly…I’m always happy to attend different sorts of fun events, namely because I get to experiment with different event-appropriate outfits! For this game, I was going for a fun, sporty look, with a touch of chic. And I have to say…I think all together, it was a home run (sorry…I couldn’t resist…)! Enjoy!
