Beckham for Burberry

18 Dec

The Beckhams can add another modeling cred to their clan — little Romeo Beckham is officially the new face of the Burberry Kids line. The super photogenic 10-year old sports the infamous Burberry trench and umbrella, lighting up the camera with his million-dollar smile (and presumably, a million-dollar plus pay cheque). But surely it wasn’t difficult for the tot to strike a pose, with Posh and Becks for parents.

The Romeo-Burberry pairing was a match made in British designer heaven. What better recruit could the iconic beige and plaid brand find to represent their kids ready-to-wear line, other than a member of one of Britain’s most unofficially royal families?

But honestly speaking, little Romeo (/mini Becks) looks absolutely ADORBS in the ad, and I’m sure it won’t be his last.

FULL SPEED-O AHEAD: world’s fastest swimmer michael phelps for LV

14 Aug

First of all, a HUGE congratulations is in order for ALL the amazing Olympic athletes, who made it to this worldwide platform to display their athletic abilities…and a special congratulations to the US, for taking first place in the medal race for these 2012 London Games! And last but certainly not least, congratulations to the incredible Michael Phelps for becoming the most decorated Olympian of all time, with a record 22 medals, 18 of which are gold. What an achievement!

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Phelps’ super stardom has propelled him to the next level of brand endorsements…so goodbye cheesy Subway commercial, hello Mr. Louis Vuitton! In the new print ad campaign, one image features Phelps with Larissa Latynina — the former Soviet gymnast who held Phelps’ new Olympic status, before these 2012 games. Phelps looks rather dapper wearing a full, fitted suit with a classic monogram LV tote by his feet. Nice.

The image that ruffles my feathers just a touch, is the second of the two. Phelps is pictured in a bathtub, stripped down, wearing what else? A Speedo. Oh yeah, and there’s an LV tote beside the bathtub…but I’m pretty sure nobody noticed that. I’m really unsure as to what about this image disturbs me…is it the bathtub? His creeper stare? That Speedo? Not sure how I feel about it. Either way…it’s certainly headline worthy, so well done to Louis Vuitton for choosing such a well-recognized and super talented celebrity for their new campaign!

BALL GAME CHIC: outfit of the day

6 Aug

Happy Monday, everyone — hoping that no one is suffering from the Monday blues! I had another great weekend, watching another great baseball game in what’s meant to arguably be one of the best ball parks in the country: Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies won against the Arizona Diamondbacks, but both teams put up a good fight! But more importantly…I’m always happy to attend different sorts of fun events, namely because I get to experiment with different event-appropriate outfits! For this game, I was going for a fun, sporty look, with a touch of chic. And I have to say…I think all together, it was a home run (sorry…I couldn’t resist…)! Enjoy!

SALE-ING IN LONDON, II: selfridges & debenhams

14 Jul

Welcome to the second part of my London sale post series! Although this could very easily have been a 100-part series, I decided to keep it down to just the two, featuring a few highlights of my London high street/department shopping experiences. By the way, for those of you who don’t know what a “high street” is, it’s basically the general term Londoners use to describe a specific area’s central street, featuring select shops, restaurants and cafés. This post details a few finds from some popular department stores in London, namely Selfridges and Debenhams.

Mmmm…nothing I love more than coming home with these!

A great LBD for going out by Miss Selfridge, with a little body-con/mesh twist — I can picture this perfectly with a hot pair of neon pumps!

A mix-and-match casual look, with a very wearable pullover, hot red sweater from Warehouse.

Last but not least, a piece that can be easily dressed up (with heels and a blazer) or dressed down (with flat sandals)– a multicoloured, hi-low, animal-print silk dress from Miss Selfridge.

SALE-ING IN LONDON: river island

9 Jul

Greetings from my hometown, London! I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus, namely because I’ve been consumed with wanderlust: first to LA/Laguna for a wedding, and now London to visit family. But of course, what’s a trip to London without visiting some of my favourite high street shops? Much to my delight, I was greeted by big red sale signs everywhere I turned, including at River Island. I picked up some great items, at some amazing prices! Unfortunately my size is one of the most common, so I was unable to track down a few things I’d wanted. But luckily, the sale is also online; so for those of you who run into the same problem, or who are not available to purchase in London, there’s always that option. Check out some of my fantastic finds below!

SAMPLE SALE ALERT: diane von furstenberg

8 Jun

For all of you designer enthusiasts who aren’t necessarily very enthused by designer prices, you’re in luck! NYC is a hub for some major designer sample sales. Also, many are featuring their sample sales online — like Diane Von Furstenberg. Although she’s most famously known for her “wrap dresses”, she also has some other great pieces, including shoes, bags and accessories. Check out her sample sale online, by clicking here. But hurry — quantities are limited and the sale might be coming to an end very soon! Below are some of my favourite picks. Don’t forget that all sales are final, so make sure you are 100% certain before you purchase!

BOHO CHIC AT ITS FINEST: free people

31 May

A look that I absolutely adore is called “Bohemian Chic”, most famously made popular by style icon, Nicole Richie. She pulls it off rather effortlessly, pairing flowy bottoms with printed tops and floppy hats with cut-off boots. It works very well for her. Now while I find my style to be a bit eclectic, there’s definitely some boho chic in there — I’d dedicate about 25% of my personal style to it. There’s nothing I love more than a knit crop-top with a floral maxi (a look I’m probably known for among my friends), very much inspired by Miss Richie. A one-stop destination shop that I absolutely adore to complete my boho chic look is called Free People, where all their styles add to any boho chic ensemble, or slightly romanticize a hard, more edgy look. Below are my favourite picks, currently available through the Free People website (click here to view the website in its entirety). The online shop is great, but if you get a chance to visit one of the shops, you should. It’s a really lovely experience!

STACKING, PART 1: koopdekour’s “deyvanshi rainbow friendship bracelet”

24 May

While I’m not a huge jewelry person, one thing I do love is stacking bracelets, especially in the summer. There really are no rules when it comes to stacking; you can combine colours, textures, lengths, widths, materials…anything goes. So throughout this “Stacking” post series, I will be writing about various wrist accessories I’ve come across, that are great for bracelet stacking. The first comes from a Canadian-based fashion website called Koopdekour – they’ve just added a few new bracelet styles, including my favourite, the “Deyvanshi Rainbow Friendship Bracelet“, for only CAD 38! As described by the website, it’s “hand-woven with pink, yellow, blue, green, orange, and red thread with metal detail”. So gorge! I just bought one for myself, and shipping to the US is under $6. So get to stacking, with this amazing, multi-coloured, super fun and summer ready friendship bracelet! And be sure to click here and check out Koopdekour’s website in its entirety.

Free Worldwide Shipping from River Island

Those of you who read yesterday’s post about River Island Online, know it’s one of my favorite high street shops in London, UK. If what’s keeping you from making your online purchase from them is the shipping fee, then you’re in luck! They are offering free worldwide shipping today and tomorrow (24th-25th May)! So you have no excuse — get your hands on some great summer essentials from yesterday’s post (click here to view), or some of these additions I’ve added. All of the below are part of the floral-printed summer trend I’m a huge fan of — super fun and feminine. Click here to visit the River Island website.

FASHION ACROSS THE POND: river island online

23 May

While I love shopping in NYC, my love of fashion came from my hometown, London UK. In my opinion, one of the best, most reasonably priced “high street shops” in London is called River Island. I’ve been shopping there for years; in fact, some of my favourite casual wardrobe items come from RI. I really like how they combine some basic, staple items with some very “now”, well-designed pieces, for men and women alike. They’ve really got everything: clothing, shoes, accessories, intimates, swimwear and even a kids section. And lucky for you, they now ship to 100 countries worldwide, including the US, for just £10! It’s always great to buy outside of the US, especially if you’re looking for some unique items that aren’t so easily found domestically. So this is a great alternative to your usual H&M shopping trip. Check out some of my favourite womens picks below, and click here to visit the River Island website.
